This may stir some stinging comments, as the SoC has been quite controversial as of late, following allegations that it tends to overheat and throttle a bit too much, and the fact that the OnePlus Two is not coming for a few more months, which means that it could easily wait out Qualcomm's next offering. However, the company will be looking for an easy way to build an affordable, bang-for-the-buck handset and placing a still potent, yet not cutting-edge SoC in the Two will allow it to cut some corners in the budget.
