Deal: Google's Nexus 9 can now be snapped up for just $290

One of the major caveats with the Google Nexus 9 has been the comparatively high cost versus its peers. With some configurations lurking uncomfortably near to the $600 mark, it has long been at the higher end of the pricing spectrum, and to many, unjustifiably so. But with the shelf life of mobile hardware tending to be a 12-month thing, the Google-branded, HTC-made slab is quickly approaching relic status. Thus, there are many great savings to be had, and having dropped the cost of the 32-gig, LTE model down to $379.99 recently, Expansys is back with another enticing offer.

The latest deal sees the 16 GB Wi-Fi version drop down to $290, which seems a snip for what is still a very capable slate. It packs an 8.9-inch display boasting a 1536 x 2048 resolution, an NVIDIA K1 processor clocked at 2.3 GHz, 2 GB of RAM and a mammoth 6700 mAh battery. Sure, the fact that it only offers 16 GB of real estate is amplified by the lack of a microSD slot. But if you can see past this and the absence of cellular connectivity, the $290 price seems very agreeable.
